Contact Sheet
Being a studio photographer has it perks. You can control your background, make sure your lighting is exactly how you want it, remove any unwanted shadows or things from the frame, and have full control over everything about the photo. But, it can get boring if you’re not trying new things.
I have been shooting a lot of film recently and I wanted to find a way to combine film and digital in a way that would expand what I’ve been doing in the studio, but in a creative way. I landed on creating a series of portraits that showed the natural progression of the shoot.
To do this, I needed a model who could provide a wide range of facial expression and immediately thought of Mary. She is one of my favorite models to work with because of her ability to get creative with very little. I showed her an example of what I wanted to do and she knew exactly how to bring it. She showed up with a simple fit and a simple prop to use. Leggings. I wasn’t sure about it at first but it ended up being the perfect prop for what I was trying create.
After we shot, I went home and sorted and edited the photos. I then began creating the contact sheet in Photoshop. Picking my favorite images from the set was difficult because I liked them all so much.
Here is the final product, and a few extra images for fun.
