Traverse City, Michigan
This past November an old friend of mine asked me to join them on a trip to northern Michigan. I hadn’t taken a trip in a while and was ready to hit the road. I had never been up that way and have heard it is very beautiful in the fall and wanted to see for myself.
It was beautiful. The vivid red and yellow leaves cascaded as far as the eye could see. The two lane highway that stretched through northern Michigan was lined with lush forests and quaint small towns with diners that all claimed to have the “Best Cherry Pie” in the U.S.
Traverse City has a nice appeal to it. The thick air reminds you that the lake is close by. This smell is always nostalgic to me as I grew up in a town that sits on Lake Erie.
Being a lake kid, I have always been drawn to bodies of water. It is hard to explain, but there is a comfort that comes with being near water. I love sail boats, big cargo ships, and quick little speed boats. All so different, but so appealing in their own way.
Fun Fact: Traverse City is dubbed “Cherry Capital of the World.” I had no idea Cherry Wine was so delicious, but it is.
Here are a few photos I took during my time in Traverse City, Michigan.
